About

I became hooked on self-guided adventure travel after my first trip to Peru in 1983. I had talked my brother, dad and best friend into being the second group ever to run the Rio Tambopata River, a 7-day whitewater trip in a virtually uncharted area of the Amazon rain forest. It runs down the backside of the Andes along the Bolivian border. Over the last 40 years I have traveled for 4 to 6 weeks almost every year and have now spent a little more than 3 years total roaming the 3rd world. Whenever possible have gone with my brother, if not by myself and have been lucky enough to have been able to take all of my daughters with me at least twice. My bro and I have been dropped off on a dirt runway in Irian Jaya and then walked out through jungle by ourselves. Driven a 350cc Royal Endfield from Delhi across northern India up through Nepal and back! And have had many other awesome adventures.

I hope you enjoy my stories and the pictures my brother and I have taken.
